Adugna Legese is an Associate at DABLO Law Firm whose practice focuses on corporate and commercial law, investment law, banking and financial regulation, intellectual property, and dispute resolution. He holds an LL.B. from Addis Ababa University and is currently pursuing an LL.M. in Business and Property Law at Addis Ababa University.
Adugna advises local and international clients on a wide range of corporate and regulatory matters, including company incorporation, foreign investment, corporate governance, banking and capital market regulation, intellectual property, employment law, and foreign exchange compliance. He has experience drafting and reviewing commercial agreements and corporate documents, conducting legal due diligence, and advising on complex corporate transactions and regulatory compliance.
Prior to joining DABLO Law Firm, Adugna completed an externship at Heineken Breweries S.C. (Heineken Ethiopia), where he gained practical exposure to corporate legal and regulatory matters. He is committed to delivering practical, commercially focused legal solutions tailored to clients’ business objectives.
Advised and assisted local and foreign investors on the incorporation and licensing of investment companies, including preparation of constitutional documents and regulatory filings.
Assisted clients, including an international online-housing platform and a foreign electricals manufacturer, with the registration, renewal, and protection of trademarks in Ethiopia and advised on intellectual property compliance.
Assisted financial institutions, including Zemen Bank, Awash Bank, and Capital One, with regulatory compliance relating to banking operations and registration under Ethiopia's capital market framework.
Assisted on an ongoing cross-border share acquisition valued at approximately USD 900,000 for a pharmaceutical company, including legal due diligence, transaction documentation, and regulatory compliance.
Advised companies on corporate governance matters, including capital increases, changes of general managers, corporate restructuring, and ongoing regulatory compliance.
Conducted legal due diligence for corporate transactions, including for an agricultural estate company and Capital One, identifying legal risks and advising clients on compliance requirements.
Advised a foreign company on the recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitral awards under Ethiopian law.
Advised clients on Ethiopian labour law, including severance pay and employee compensation, as well as compliance with Ethiopian foreign exchange regulations.
