Head, Litigation and Dispute
Served as lead legal advisor in a competition and consumer protection dispute against major gas suppliers, leading investigations, developing litigation strategy, and presenting an administrative claim before the federal trade competition and consumer protection authority administrative court that resulted in injunctive relief preventing market violations and protecting trademark rights and consumer interests.
Served as institutional legal expert representing the Ethiopian Customs Commission before the Federal Tax Appeal Commission. Prepared the legal defence, analysed customs valuation and regulatory issues, developed case strategy, and presented arguments in support of the Commission’s assessment. Successfully defended the Commission’s decision, upholding customs valuation standards and reinforcing the regulatory framework governing international trade and customs administration.
Prepared the defence strategy and legal submissions, represented a leading real estate company in court hearings, and successfully defended the company in a property-ownership dispute before the Federal High Court.
Represented a major Ethiopian real estate developer in construction contract dispute proceedings against the Addis Ababa City Design and Construction Works Office before the Federal High Court and Addis Ababa City Courts. Conducted court hearings, presented oral arguments on procedural and substantive matters, and managed court adjournments and follow-up proceedings throughout the litigation.
Supported DABLO’s representation of a major real estate company in a high-stakes land acquisition and residential development dispute before the Federal High Court. Assisted in preparing pleadings, legal submissions, and supporting documentation for the defence in proceedings concerning a land acquisition and residential development dispute, contributing to the successful dismissal of claims valued at ETB 85.3 million.
Assisted the DABLO legal team on a dispute involving a Cyprus-based pharmaceutical company through document review, legal research and analysis, assessment of jurisdictional objections, evaluation of documentary and evidentiary issues, and support in developing settlement and withdrawal strategies. Contributed to the defence approach that led to successful resolution of the dispute without liability exposure to the client.
Led post-judgment execution and enforcement proceedings in Heineken’s successful usufruct possession dispute valued at USD 1.6 million and a product distributorship dispute valued at USD 250,000, ensuring effective implementation of court decisions and realisation of the client’s rights.
Led the execution-phase strategy and implementation following a court decision against the client, ensuring strict compliance with court execution procedures while safeguarding the client’s remaining property rights and interests. Coordinated execution proceedings, engaged with judicial and administrative authorities, monitored enforcement measures, and took procedural steps to minimise adverse impacts on the client’s landholding.
Represented Capstone Real Estate PLC and Gesund Cardiac & Medical Center in multiple labour disputes before labour benches and courts, conducting hearings, preparing and presenting legal arguments, drafting pleadings and submissions, examining evidence, and managing litigation strategy. Successfully defended the clients in numerous employment-related claims, contributing to favourable outcomes across the matters.
