Tewodros Tena is an Associate at DABLO Law Firm and a legal and capital markets professional focusing on financial-sector regulation, licensing, compliance, and market supervision. He holds an LL.B. and an LL.M. in Public International Law from Addis Ababa University, where his thesis assessed regulatory challenges for intra-Africa capital market trading in Ethiopia. He is a CISI-certified capital markets professional and a member of the Toronto Centre Global Leadership Programme.
Before joining DABLO Law Firm, Tewodros served as a Membership Regulation and Supervision Analyst and Legal Trainee at the Ethiopian Securities Exchange (ESX), and previously as a consultant at GIZ–African Union and a project associate at KEMMCOM Media and Communication PLC. At ESX he contributed to the Exchange’s incorporation before the Ethiopian Capital Market Authority (ECMA) and the Ethiopian Investment Commission, drafted regulatory policies and procedures, and led the onboarding of six investment banks and two securities dealers as trading members. His expertise spans capital markets regulation, licensing and supervision of market intermediaries, regulatory compliance, policy development, and market-conduct oversight.
Coordinated the trading-member admission of Wegagen Capital, CBE Capital, and Awash Capital investment banks to the Ethiopian Securities Exchange, conducting legal and regulatory reviews, pre-membership inspections, and admission recommendations to the Exchange Board.
Coordinated the trading-member admission of Siinqee, Prime Capital, and First Addis investment banks to the Ethiopian Securities Exchange, conducting legal and regulatory reviews, pre-membership inspections, and admission recommendations.
Coordinated the trading-member admission of Ethio Fidelity and Gadaa securities dealers to the Ethiopian Securities Exchange, conducting legal and regulatory reviews and preparing admission recommendations.
Developed regulatory policies, operational procedures, and compliance guidance for the Ethiopian Securities Exchange and its trading members, drafting and reviewing rulebooks, procedures, and operational manuals.
