Bruk is a distinguished legal professional with over 15 years of experience in corporate, investment, and litigation law. He plays a pivotal role in shaping the firm’s strategic vision and delivering high-calibre legal ser vices. Recognized by The Legal 500 as a Recommended Lawyer, Bruk is known for his expertise in advising businesses, investors, and multinational organizations on complex legal and regulatory matters. Bruk’s career began in the public sector as a legal advisor for the Addis Ababa City Administration.

He then transitioned to the private sector, serving as in-house legal counsel, and providing comprehensive legal guidance on corporate and regulatory issues. His move into private practice allowed him to expand his expertise, advising clients on investment licensing, tax law, employment law, and general business law.

In addition to his advisory practice, Bruk is a seasoned litigator, representing clients in civil and commercial disputes before Ethiopia’s Federal Courts and the African Union Ad ministrative Tribunal. His work also includes conducting legal due diligence for companies looking to invest or expand operations in Ethiopia, ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks. Bruk holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Addis Ababa University. GIFT Real Estate Plc

Advised on a USD 100 million (ETB 11.6 billion) public-private partnership agreement with the Addis Ababa Municipality for the construction of public housing units in central Addis Ababa.

AU Tribunal Arbitration

Represented a client in an employment dispute before the African Union Administrative Tribunal against the Chairperson of the African Union Commission

MLD PLC

Provided legal counsel to a local development company on a PPP agreement for a commercial mall project, ensuring protection of the client’s interests through strategic negotiation with the city’s PPP department.

CropConex

Advised a U.S.-based investor on the registration of Ethiopia’s first e-commerce platform, facilitating full legal incorporation and operational launch.

Wejiz Engineering Plc

Represented a leading Ethiopian developer in arbitration proceedings involving 28 apartment buyers who defaulted on contracts, with claims totaling USD 2.7 million (ETB 146.1 million).

Health

Provided advisory services on the proposed division of Private Limited Company Ethiopia, a subsidiary of Hong Kong-based company into manufacturing and laboratory service wings.

Ethiopia Brewery company

Represented Ethiopia’s largest brewery in a civil lawsuit against a vehicle importer over breach of contract valued at USD 783,000 (ETB 90.7 million).

Tax_ DABLO

Acted as counsel of Irish company Tax Appeal Commission, asserting that the DTAA clearly exempts Irish companies without a permanent establishment in Ethiopia from Ethiopian income tax.

Coffee Estate Plc

Acted in a shareholder dispute involving one of Ethiopia’s premier coffee exporters, with claims valued at USD 500,000 (ETB 57.9 million).

Ethiopian Lottery Service (ELS): 

Provided legal advisory and contract review for a multimillion-dollar digital lottery platform structured as a joint venture between ELS and a private entity.
